Live your Life....

Hi Friends,

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said "If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress." "What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cups. Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it." So don't let the cups drive you...enjoy the coffee instead!

* A thought from Swami Vivekananda

With the above example let me share my views

This seems simple logic but how many of us really understand this in our day to day life.......

we people are always after the things ...

for example let me say i have a job but i would be praying God or just thinking like 'i want a better job than this ...this is not the place i wish to live in'

first of all can we define what a good job is .....??

If our judgement is only based on money then we will always be in the same misery thinking of the best dream job which never gonna fullfill,

we people compare our life with others in all the aspects let that be money, position or even with the dresses.....

In that wild chase of satisfying your dreams which is never gonna happen ,we miss little pleasures of life....and later when we realize(if at all we try to) we cant get back the precious time ...

I am not telling like..Let us all be like saints....wish for nothing bigger in this world ....But I would like to say one thing ..Enjoy what ever you do....

Dont just do it just because it is necessary for you to do and dedicate your life time in getting richer and richer(may be higher and higher position in a Job)

Care your little wants, which are there in your geart but never camr out....

For example:A movie with the family,A cup of coffee with a friend at your home,Playing with the kids,Helping them in flying kites, giving an ear to Grandparents who are really eager to share their experiance

So let us live life not just pull it....Let our lives not be directed and dominated only by the job, money ,position .........

So enjoy the Coffee Instead of looking at the cups

The example of lecturer is good..It has complete resemblence to our lives..
Nice thought to rememember regularly and prioritize things in our life. But u dont have much options left to u in life..In this world, it is struggle for existence. If u dont work hard and give damn importance ur job, likely chance is u get fired...To enjoy all those simple things in life, we still need to give enough priority to job, money. Balance between these simple things and job/money is not that easy to achieve. If that is achieved, that is the ideal stage in man's life
@Shilpa

I have not said to be like a saint and wish for nothing....
I am talking about the work-Life belance...

and comparisions and desires must be checked otherwise it leads to wild goose chase...leading nowhere...

it's good example to understand the life.We need to know one thing in life..

you have a right to desire every thing but make ensure that your are enjoying the path.I mean to say "Enjoy the Path-Not the Reward".This will make you happy every moment.
